In Kazakhstan, the transition to distance education has been virtually impossible
The Ministry of education and science of Kazakhstan regularly reported on the introduction of technologies that allow you to organise online training. However, the pandemic has shown that this has proven to be virtually impossible to implement in practice.
To date, 72 billion Kazakhstani tenge (or about $165 million at the current exchange rate) has been spent on the development of distance learning technologies. Nevertheless, the start of the 2020/2021 academic year has been disrupted because the platform failed to meet information security and quality standards for training materials.
Technical conditions also made it difficult to switch to distance learning. 55,000 schoolchildren live in villages without Internet access, and one million students do not have even have computers.
