Kenya opens country's first online university

Kenya's first online university has already received government approval. State representatives expect more than 7,000 students to enrol at the university. The Kenya Open University will be charging students about 10,000 shillings per module. The university can be found in the local Technopolis. This city has been designed to host the country's recent wave of technological innovation.

You can study for a bachelor's degree in economics, data science, statistics, business, technology, cybersecurity, Internet forensics, and agriculture at the university. To gain a full education, 4 to 6 modules have to be completed. According to the application, those wanting to obtain a degree in management will have to pay for their education, which will cost 130,000 shillings a year, a multiple of the region's yearly average salary.

Kenya is willing to spend money on creating educational infrastructure. The country's administrative budget for the first year of the Open University will be almost 2 billion shillings. Tax money will be used to build schools, infrastructure supporting Internet access, and to buy textbooks and manuals.
