More than 75% of children in India have problems with online education

As schools worldwide continue to work predominantly remotely, this jeopardises the well-being and future of students.

In India, the primary way to conduct online lessons is by using WhatsApp messenger. About 75% of teachers and students utilise it. 38% are also using regular phone calls throughout the educational process. Both the first and second approach to online learning are limited in both functions and facilities which also reduces the quality of distance learning.

Today, more than 75% of children experience difficulties accessing the internet, which frequently prevents them from connecting to a lesson or completing their homework on time. The problem with being able to connect to the internet is the most challenging in the Jharkhand region where over 40% of children reported that they just did not have a suitable device to access the internet. Consequently, children from low-income families lose almost 40% of the education they would generally obtain during just one academic year.

Numerous issues with online education also can stem from a shortage of IT support in remote regions, constant technological changes, optimised software, and internet security issues.
