Scientists found the best music for taking exams
Researchers from the National Science Foundation and Baylor University (USA) have determined which music has the best effect on students when they are taking a test.
The experiment involved 50 students from different colleges, who were aged between 18 and 33. There were Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, Vivaldi's Spring, and Chopin's works playing in the background during lectures. After having listened to music during the day, the participants had their sleep patterns monitored using computer sensors at night. Half of the participants had classical music played to them for 15 minutes during deep sleep.
The pop genre and jazz were not used on purpose, due to their rhythm which disrupts concentration and reduces the speed of acquiring information. Besides, the researchers immediately discarded sounds of nature - the human brain quickly learns to ignore them, and they don't have any significant effect.
Therefore, through conducting experiments, scientists proved that students, who listened to classical music (waltz and piano sonatas) the day and night before the exam, passed the tests 18% better than their classmates.
