The quality of education is rapidly improving in Côte d'Ivoire

Students and staff from the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire can now join a Ministry of National Education and Literacy pilot project to provide regions with access to learning resources. The project was announced in the spring of 2023. One of the initiative's main goals was to enable access to 5,500 students aged 11 to 24 with textbooks, workbooks, and courses. The project aim is for them to have access to online materials rather than physical copies of books. Henceforth, both students and employees from educational institutions can now take part. For example, at the request of teachers, Spacecom, who are involved in the initiative, is installing satellite Internet infrastructure in schools throughout the region. This allows online lessons to be conducted in the surrounding communities and provides many students with Internet access. The project partners involved in the experiment in rural schools have installed solar panels to provide a reliable power supply. Some of them have been working since April!

As part of the initiative, multimedia classrooms and devices for remote access to lessons were bought and installed for different schools and educational projects across the region. Students will also have the chance to learn from videos from Imaginecole, an online education platform deployed in West Africa. Teachers are supported in their work through a public platform - a service for monitoring student progress and passing exams. It will soon be possible for teachers to work on their own professional development by attending webinars and training online.
