Tuskegee University launches Global Campus — a new online platform
In the US, Tuskegee University announced the launch of Tuskegee University Global Campus (TUGC) — a new online platform for distance learning.
The university positions it as a way to expand access to high-quality HBCU education for students who cannot study in person: working adults, parents, veterans, and those for whom relocating is too expensive or inconvenient.
What is interesting in the release is that TUGC is presented not as a "trendy digital initiative," but as a logical continuation of the university's mission. Tuskegee directly links the project to its history of "delivering education where it is needed" - and emphasizes accessibility without loss of academic quality. For online education, this is an important signal: they are selling not only the format, but also the idea of quality.
At the same time, the launch is backed by numbers: in the 2024-2025 academic year, the number of fully online students grew from 27 to 42 (that is, by 56% in a year), and over a decade the online student flow increased by 425%. The university has also already outlined the next step: online bachelor's and master's programs are planned to launch from fall 2027, based on Quality Matters standards, and students are promised not only lectures, but also academic advising, tutoring, and coaching on learning effectiveness.
