US teachers carry coffins in protest
Teachers in New York are protesting against schools reopening. They consider such a decision premature as the level of coronavirus infection in the city remains too high.
The teachers requested the authorities to extend distance learning for the safety of students. To date, the largest rally of teachers has been seen in Chicago. Many teachers believe that returning so abruptly to classrooms is too dangerous and will exponentially drive up the R-rate.
The teachers brought thematic posters and mock caskets to the protests because they wanted to convey their concern about the lives and health of all students and teachers in the US.
