According to the document, only middle and high school students will be allowed to use AI to solve academic tasks, research the functioning of generative chatbots, and create their own models. Interestingly, primary school students are explicitly prohibited from using neural networks during lessons or while completing homework assignments. Primary education in China lasts six years.
Although students from the seventh grade onward will be allowed to seek assistance from AI, they are strictly forbidden from using neural networks for cheating or passing off chatbot-generated content as their own. It is also important for students to learn how to critically assess AI-generated work and analyze its conclusions.
There are also limitations for teachers regarding the use of neural networks. For example, AI must not be used to assign grades on behalf of educators or to process students' personal data.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Education of the PRC plans to provide schools with the innovative infrastructure needed to study AI capabilities, implement more educational programs focused on AI tools, and strengthen cooperation between rural and urban schools to help bridge the technological divide.
